In this post we are covering the deployment of the vRealize Automation Proxy Agent so that we can create a vSphere Endpoint.
Prerequisite Steps
- Deploy and configure a supported Highly Available SSO Solution.
- Deploy and configure a supported Highly Available vRA Appliance solution ( HOWTO .
- Deploy and configure two vRealize Automation IaaS Web Servers ( HOWTO
- Deploy and configure two vRealize Automation IaaS Manager Servers ( HOWTO )
- Deploy and configure one or more vRealize Automation DEM Workers ( HOWTO ).
- Deploy one or more Windows Server 2012 Virtual Machines ( PDF ) to use as Proxy Agent Servers.
Overview
- Configure the vRealize Automation User permissions in vSphere
- Download the IaaS Installer from the vRealize Automation Virtual Appliance.
- Install the VMware vRealize Automation Proxy Agent for vSphere.
- Create the vSphere Endpoint in vRealize Automation.

Configure the vRealize Automation User permissions in vSphere

Download the IaaS Installer from the vRealize Automation Virtual Appliance.

Install the VMware vRealize Automation Proxy Agent for vSphere.

Log into the server as the vRealize Automation Service account.

Locate the IaaS Installer (
setup_cx-vra-602.thecloudxpert.local@5480.exe
) and right-click and select Run as Administrator.

- If prompted by a User Account Control dialog, click Yes.

- Click Next.

- Check the I accept the terms in the license agreement checkbox and click Next.

- Type the root credentials (Username and Password) of the vRealize Automation Appliance (where you downloaded this IaaS installer from) and check the Accept Certificate checkbox.

- Click Next.

- Select the Custom Install option, then select the Proxy Agents option.

- If required/desired click Change to change the Root Install Location and click Next.

- Type the Password for the vRealize Automation Service Account (the User name should be automatically populated as it should be the currently logged on user).

- Click Next.

- Select vSphere from the Agent type dropdown.

- Type the name into the Agent Name text box and enter the vRealize Automation Manager Service VIP FQDN into the Manager Service Hosts text box.

- Click Test next to the Manager Service Host text box.

- Click Test next to the Model Manager Web Service Hosts text box.

- Assuming both tests have passed, enter the name for the endpoint into the Endpoint name text box and click Add.

- Click Next.

- Click Install.

- Once the installation is complete, Click Finish.

- From the Windows Desktop, navigate in Start > Administrative Tools > Services to confirm the Agent Service has been created
